Choosing Action Over Delay
There is a moment in every career where waiting feels like the safer choice. In 2020, Kristen Pitts decided not to wait.
She launched KP Law Group during a time when most industries were slowing down. The decision came with risk, but also clarity. People still needed legal representation. That need did not disappear with the pandemic.
So she moved forward.
Early Days Defined by Effort
The firm began with three women sharing space, time, and responsibility. Resources were limited. The workload was not.
They worked long hours and accepted that the return would not be immediate. What kept them going was a shared belief that they were building something worthwhile.
That belief carried them through the early months when progress felt uncertain.
Navigating a New Legal Landscape
The shift to virtual courtrooms required a different approach to nearly everything. Communication changed. Preparation changed. Expectations changed.
Pitts and her team adapted as they went. They learned how to conduct depositions online, manage cases digitally, and maintain client trust without in-person interaction.
It was not seamless, but it worked. Over time, those adjustments became strengths.
Defining Success on Their Own Terms
As the firm stabilized, Pitts made a decision that influenced its direction. She chose to prioritize the quality of each client relationship over rapid expansion.
That choice shaped the firm’s growth. Clients returned. They referred others. The business expanded in a way that felt steady and manageable.
Today, KP Law Group has thirteen team members and a growing presence across the region.
The Personal Side of Leadership
Running a business comes with pressure. Pitts has had to learn how to manage that without losing perspective.
She relies on her team. She sets boundaries. She takes time to step away when needed.
“There is value in rest,” she says. It is something she had to learn over time.
Looking Forward With Purpose
The future for KP Law Group includes expansion, but it also includes intention. Pitts is focused on growing the firm without losing the culture that defines it.
Her work outside the firm continues through mentorship and partnerships with organizations like Cool Girls and Kate’s Club.
The goal is to keep building, while staying grounded in the values that started it all.
