The Rising Demand for Specialized Behavioral Addiction Treatment

Lilac Grove: Integrated Psychiatry & Addiction recently launched a fully online treatment program focused on gambling and behavioral addictions, introducing a model that combines structured recovery work with neurobehavioral therapy and individualized intervention.

Two Clinical Frameworks, One Integrated System
Founded by Sandra DeGroat and Ken Litwak, the company developed what it calls the Lilac Grove Integrated Recovery Model.
At its foundation is Neurobehavioral Awareness Training, or NBAT, created by DeGroat. The framework helps individuals recognize non conscious patterns and neurological responses associated with addictive behavior. Instead of focusing solely on external triggers, the system encourages patients to examine the internal behavioral processes that reinforce compulsive habits.
The second component comes from Litwak’s 3 Prong Addiction Recovery System, known as 3 PARS, which approaches recovery through cognitive, behavioral, and motivational dimensions.
Combined, the systems create a tiered treatment structure beginning with a 12 week recovery foundation group before advancing into higher intensity therapeutic care for those requiring deeper intervention.

The language may sound clinical, but the underlying issue is deeply human. Many individuals struggling with gambling addiction never enter treatment because they fail to recognize the behavior as a legitimate mental health condition until financial, emotional, or relational damage has already accumulated.

By operating entirely online, Lilac Grove aims to remove some of the traditional barriers surrounding addiction treatment. Patients can access care privately from anywhere in the country, an advantage that becomes especially significant in regions where specialized gambling addiction services remain scarce.
The company believes accessibility and personalization are no longer optional features in behavioral healthcare. They are becoming expectations.
