How Elda Acevedo Estefanía Is Helping Organizations See the Invisible Power of Culture

Why do some conversations flow while others stall? Why do brilliant teams sometimes miss connection?

The answer often lies in culture — the unseen system shaping how we think, lead, and collaborate.

Elda Acevedo Estefanía, founder of InterCulturaling, has devoted her life to helping organizations recognize and navigate these invisible forces. Her work reveals how culture quietly drives communication, performance, and trust — and how awareness can transform every interaction.

Origins of a Calling

Raised in Puerto Rico by parents from different cultural backgrounds, Elda learned early that there’s more than one way to see the world. Her academic path took her from Puerto Rico to the U.S. and Spain, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in International Communications and a master’s degree in Communications — building a foundation that would later become her life’s work.

Her career path was anything but linear. She has worked in technology, travel, business, and nonprofit sectors. Yet in every role, across every industry, she noticed the same pattern — culture shapes connection.

“When I coined the word InterCulturaling — a verb to describe the act of communicating intentionally across cultures — I wanted to name what so many people experience every day but don’t yet know how to describe,” she says. “Once you can name it, you can do it better.”

Breaking Barriers in Entrepreneurship

Turning that insight into a business took courage and persistence.

“Culture isn’t something you can hold in your hand,” Elda reflects. “Defining it as a service was the first challenge.” From branding to curriculum design to running operations, every step required clarity and faith in her mission.

What kept her going was impact. “When a client suddenly sees culture at play — in their leadership, their meetings, or their team dynamics — that’s when I know the work is landing.”

Redefining What Culture Work Means

Elda’s approach to culture goes beyond compliance, checklists, or corporate training.

“InterCulturaling is not about memorizing etiquette. It’s about awareness. It’s the daily practice of pausing, asking, and understanding before you engage. It’s about recognizing that our ways of leading, deciding, and relating are deeply cultural.”

Through keynotes, training programs, and consulting, she helps leaders and teams move from confusion to clarity — transforming miscommunication into collaboration.

Guidance for Changemakers

For those building purpose-driven ventures or navigating multicultural spaces, Elda offers grounded wisdom:

Start with what you know deeply. Your lived experience is your expertise.

Trust small wins. Transformation begins with one clear moment of understanding.

Protect your vision from noise. Not everyone will understand your “why” at first.

Don’t wait for perfection. “Commitment comes before clarity,” she says.

Life and Work as One

Elda’s philosophy is more than professional — it’s personal.

Her daughter once joked, “Can we have one conversation without you saying, ‘Well, culturally…’?”

Elda laughed. “Probably not,” she said. “Culture is how we see everything — it’s not just my job; it’s my lens on life.”

The Future Vision

Today, InterCulturaling is expanding through online learning, leadership programs, and international partnerships. A book project and global speaking engagements are also underway.

“The work is not just about teaching culture,” Elda says. “It’s about helping people see what’s been invisible all along — so they can connect, lead, and thrive with greater awareness.”
