Erin Jo Harris has a particular understanding of what it means to succeed in entertainment. It involves making films, writing music and pursuing meaningful creative opportunities. Just as importantly, it involves recognizing the projects she is unwilling to accept.
The actress, signed songwriter and certified chaplain has turned down major roles and bookings that offered financial rewards but conflicted with her mission to uplift culture.
For Harris, those decisions have brought a sense of clarity that she considers more valuable than a paycheck earned at the expense of her convictions.
Her latest film illustrates the kind of work she hopes to continue creating.
In May 2026, Harris completed filming the female lead in Turning Point, a faith based feature exploring redemption, family and the difference between religious appearances and an authentic commitment to following Jesus.
A Film Rooted in Redemption
Filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada, Turning Point represents Harris’ second leading feature film role within two years.
The production stars Kaiwi Lyman as the male lead and brings together an international cast and crew. Billy Crone and John Prescott wrote the film, with Prescott directing and Get a Life Media producing.
After more than 10 years in development, the project finally reached production in circumstances Harris believes were guided by divine timing.
She describes unexpected connections and fortunate developments throughout the process as “God winks,” experiences that strengthened her belief in the relationship between faith and her creative work.
“I’ve seen so many miracles and ‘acts of grace’ in my career, it inspires me to stay in the game and keep trusting God for even more glorious adventures and fulfilling projects,” Harris said.
Choosing Purpose Over a Paycheck
Harris’ approach to selecting roles reflects a philosophy she has developed through her work in entertainment and ministry.
Rather than treating every booking as progress, she considers whether a project contributes to the cultural influence she hopes to have.
That has meant declining substantial opportunities, including those with attractive financial compensation.
There is a practical tension in such decisions. Actors depend on consistent work, and turning down a major booking can mean sacrificing immediate income or visibility.
Harris nevertheless believes that preserving integrity provides a deeper and more lasting sense of reward.
She describes herself as a “Heaven Permaculturist,” a term that expresses her desire to cultivate healthy, faith centered creative ecosystems through music, film and other artistic disciplines.
Her larger mission includes inspiring audiences and helping prepare the next generation of artists and entertainers to approach their work through grace.
A New Story Taking Shape
As Turning Point moves toward its eventual release, Harris is taking a break to develop a music related feature film set in the 1970s.
The project brings together two important parts of her professional identity: her experience as an actress and her background as a songwriter.
Although further details about the developing film have not been provided, its period setting represents a new creative direction for Harris.
Her recent accomplishments reflect a career moving forward, but Harris remains attentive to the choices behind that progress.
For her, creative freedom includes the ability to walk away from work that conflicts with her values and make room for stories she genuinely believes are worth telling.
